Harvia Sauna Heater Controls

This collection covers every Harvia control component — from complete digital controller units to individual replacement parts. Whether you're setting up a new Harvia heater with external controls, upgrading an existing heater to WiFi, or replacing a failed thermostat, timer, sensor, or circuit board, you'll find the correct Harvia OEM part here. All parts are genuine Harvia components with factory part numbers, so you can match them to your heater model's documentation or the part you're replacing.

Xenio Digital Controllers

The Harvia Xenio is Harvia's external digital control system for electric sauna heaters. It mounts on the wall outside the sauna room (not inside — the control unit stays in the non-heated space) and connects to the heater via a data cable. The Xenio provides digital temperature setting, programmable timer, and — when paired with the WiFi module — remote control through the MyHarvia smartphone app (iOS and Android).

There are several Xenio models in the lineup. The CX170 is the current primary residential controller — it handles heaters up to 17 kW and includes WiFi capability built in. The CX30 and CX45 are controllers for specific heater power ranges and older installations. The Xenio CX30 handles heaters up to 3.0 kW, while the CX45 covers up to 4.5 kW. If you're purchasing a Harvia heater as a complete package (Spirit package, Cilindro Half package, Club package), the Xenio controller, WiFi module, and data cable are included. If you're buying a standalone heater or replacing a controller on an existing installation, the Xenio is available individually here.

WiFi Module

The Harvia WiFi upgrade module adds smartphone control to any Harvia heater with a compatible Xenio or Griffin controller. Once connected, you can start and stop the heater, set target temperature, program heating schedules, and monitor sauna status in real time through the MyHarvia app. This is the upgrade path for anyone who bought a Harvia heater without WiFi and wants to add remote pre-heat capability — start the sauna from your phone 30–45 minutes before you're ready so it's at temperature when you walk out. The WiFi module connects to the controller via the data cable and requires a WiFi network within range of the controller's mounting location.

Data Cables

The Harvia data cable connects the Xenio or Griffin controller to the heater and to optional accessories like the WiFi module. It's the communication link between the controller panel (mounted outside the sauna) and the heater (inside the sauna). Data cables are specific to the controller model — make sure you're ordering the correct cable for your Xenio or Griffin unit. This is also a common replacement part when troubleshooting communication issues between the controller and heater — if the controller is powered on but not communicating with the heater, the data cable is the first thing to check.

Timers and Thermostats

For Harvia heaters with built-in controls (like the KIP with built-in controller), the timer and thermostat are mechanical components mounted on the heater body. The timer (ZSK-766) controls how long the heater runs — it's a mechanical countdown timer that shuts the heater off after the set duration. The thermostat (ZSK-762) regulates temperature by cycling the heating elements on and off to maintain the set point. Both are standard replacement parts for KIP, KV, and Cilindro heaters with built-in controls. If your heater is running but not maintaining temperature, the thermostat is the likely component. If the heater won't turn on or won't shut off at the set time, the timer is the likely component.

Temperature Sensors

The temperature sensor with cover (WX232) and the temperature sensor cable (WX237) are the components that tell the controller what temperature the sauna room is at. The sensor mounts inside the sauna room (typically on the wall near the ceiling) and sends temperature readings to the Xenio or Griffin controller, which uses that data to cycle the heater on and off. Sensor failure is the most common cause of temperature control issues — if your sauna is overheating, not reaching set temperature, or displaying incorrect temperature on the controller, the sensor or its cable is the first component to check. The sensor and cable are separate parts and can be replaced independently.

Circuit Boards and Control Panels

The circuit board (WX361) is the main logic board inside the Xenio CX30, CX45, and CX170 controllers. If the controller display is blank, unresponsive, or showing error codes that don't resolve with a reset, the circuit board may need replacement. The control panel (WX387) is the front-facing interface (display and buttons) of the Xenio controller — if the display is damaged or buttons are unresponsive but the heater still functions when manually triggered, the control panel is the component to replace. The power extension unit is used when the heater's power draw exceeds the controller's built-in relay capacity — it adds additional power-switching capacity for higher-kW heaters connected to CX30 or CX45 controllers.

Which Part Do I Need?

If you're unsure which component to order, start with the symptom. Heater won't start from controller: check the data cable first, then the circuit board. Temperature isn't accurate or heater overheats: replace the temperature sensor and cable. Timer doesn't work (built-in control heaters): replace the timer (ZSK-766). Can't hold set temperature (built-in control heaters): replace the thermostat (ZSK-762). Want to add WiFi: order the WiFi module and data cable. Controller display dead: try replacing the control panel first; if that doesn't resolve it, replace the circuit board. If you need help identifying the right part for your heater model, call or text us at (360) 233-2867 — we can match parts to your specific Harvia heater and controller setup.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are these genuine Harvia parts?

Yes — every control component in this collection is a genuine Harvia OEM part with the factory part number. These are the same parts Harvia ships with new heaters and the same parts authorized service technicians use for repairs. Using genuine parts ensures compatibility and maintains any existing warranty on your heater.

Can I upgrade from built-in controls to a Xenio digital controller?

In most cases, yes. Harvia heaters with built-in knob controls (KIP, KV, Cilindro) can typically be converted to external Xenio control by disconnecting the built-in controls and wiring the Xenio controller instead. This gives you digital temperature precision and WiFi capability. The wiring conversion should be done by a qualified electrician familiar with sauna heater installations. Check your heater's installation manual for compatibility with the specific Xenio model.

Do I need an electrician to replace these parts?

It depends on the part. The WiFi module, data cable, temperature sensor, and control panel can typically be replaced without an electrician — they're low-voltage components that plug in or mount with basic tools. The circuit board, timer, thermostat, and power extension unit involve line-voltage connections and should be replaced by a qualified electrician or someone comfortable working with 240V electrical systems. Always disconnect power to the heater at the breaker before replacing any component.

How do I know my Harvia controller model?

The model number is printed on a label on the controller body — look for CX170, CX30, CX45, or CX30C. If you have an older Griffin controller, the model designation is on a similar label. The heater's original installation manual will also specify which controller model was included or compatible. If you can't find the model number, contact us with your heater's model and serial number and we'll identify the correct controller and parts.
