Dynamic Cold Therapy

Dynamic Cold Therapy

Dynamic Cold Therapy

Dynamic Cold Therapy builds cold plunge tubs and chiller systems designed for home use. The lineup covers every entry point — from inflatable tubs you can set up in minutes to handcrafted cedar barrels that become a permanent part of your backyard wellness setup. Dynamic is the same manufacturer behind Dynamic Saunas, one of the best-selling infrared sauna brands in the U.S., and their cold therapy products share the same focus on accessible pricing, residential-friendly design, and straightforward setup.

Cold Plunge Tubs

Dynamic offers three categories of cold plunge tub, each designed for a different use case and budget:

Cedar Barrel Cold Plunge — A handcrafted wooden barrel made from Canadian Cedar. The barrel shape is compact, durable, and naturally insulating. Cedar is moisture-resistant and antimicrobial, making it an ideal material for a tub that holds water continuously. The round barrel is the classic cold plunge form factor — it looks great on a deck, patio, or next to an outdoor sauna and pairs naturally with the contrast therapy routine of alternating between hot and cold. Cedar Oval Cold Plunge Barrel — Same cedar construction as the round barrel but in an oval shape that provides more interior room for a comfortable seated position. The oval footprint gives you extra shoulder width and legroom compared to a round barrel while maintaining a compact overall size. Both cedar barrels pair with Dynamic's chiller/heater system (sold separately) for precise, automated temperature control.

Cuboid Cold Plunge Tub — A rectangular acrylic tub that pairs seamlessly with Dynamic's cooling, filtration, and sanitation system. The cuboid shape maximizes usable interior space — you can fully extend your legs in a reclined position. The modern, clean-lined design suits indoor installations (basements, garages, bathrooms) as well as outdoor patios and pool decks. The integrated filtration and sanitation system keeps the water clean between sessions so you don't need to drain and refill after every use.

Inflatable Cold Plunges — The most affordable and portable option. Available in round and oval configurations, these inflatable tubs set up in minutes with no tools, work indoors or outdoors, and store compactly when not in use. They pair with Dynamic's chiller system for automated cooling down to 39°F, or you can simply add ice for a manual cold plunge. The inflatables are the best entry point for people who want to try cold therapy before committing to a permanent installation — and at a fraction of the cost of cedar or acrylic tubs.

Chiller & Heater System

The Dynamic Cold Plunge Chiller & Heater System is an external unit that connects to any Dynamic cold plunge tub (and most third-party tubs) to maintain precise water temperature without ice. It cools water down to 37°F (3°C) and also includes a heat function for warm water therapy — making it a true cold/heat system for year-round use.

Available in three horsepower options: 0.6 HP (smaller tubs and moderate climates), 0.8 HP (mid-size tubs, most residential use), and 1.0 HP (larger tubs, hot climates, or fastest cool-down times). The system includes WiFi app control for setting target temperature, scheduling cooling cycles, and monitoring water temperature from your phone. Built-in filtration keeps water clean between sessions.

A chiller eliminates the biggest friction point of cold therapy: buying, storing, and adding ice before every session. With a chiller, the water stays at your target temperature 24/7 — step in whenever you want. This convenience factor is what most cold plunge owners say made the difference between occasional use and a daily habit.

How to Choose Your Dynamic Cold Plunge Setup

Trying cold therapy for the first time / budget-conscious: Start with an inflatable tub (round or oval). Add ice manually for your first sessions. If you find yourself using it consistently, add the chiller system later — it connects to the inflatable tubs the same way it connects to cedar and acrylic models. Permanent outdoor installation / aesthetic matters: Cedar barrel (round or oval). The natural wood construction looks great next to a sauna, on a deck, or in a backyard wellness area. Pair with the chiller for automated temperature control. Indoor installation / maximum interior space: Cuboid tub. The rectangular shape fits against walls and in corners, and the reclined position with full leg extension is the most comfortable for longer sessions. Built-in filtration keeps water maintenance minimal for indoor use.

Contrast Therapy: Pairing with a Sauna

The most popular use case for a Dynamic cold plunge is contrast therapy — alternating between a hot sauna session and cold immersion. The combination of heat exposure followed by cold triggers a cascade of physiological responses: increased circulation, reduced inflammation, endorphin and dopamine release, and faster muscle recovery. We carry contrast therapy packages that bundle a sauna and cold plunge together, and Dynamic's infrared saunas pair naturally with their cold plunge products for a complete hot/cold setup from a single brand. Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a chiller, or can I just use ice?

You can absolutely use ice — the inflatable tubs and cedar barrels work perfectly well with bags of ice from the store or a chest freezer. The chiller system is a convenience upgrade that maintains temperature automatically. Most people who cold plunge regularly (3+ times per week) find the chiller pays for itself in ice costs and saved time within a few months. Read our guide on how chillers, filters, and sanitation systems work for a detailed breakdown.

What temperature should I set for cold plunging?

Most protocols recommend 50°F (10°C) as a starting point, with experienced plungers working down to 39–45°F (4–7°C). The Dynamic chiller cools to 37°F at its lowest setting. Start warmer and gradually decrease over weeks as your body adapts. For specific temperature and duration recommendations, see our Ice Bath Temperature & Duration Guide.

Can I install a Dynamic cold plunge indoors?

Yes — the cuboid and inflatable models are both designed for indoor or outdoor use. Indoor installation requires a flat, water-resistant surface and access to a drain (or a pump for water changes). The chiller system needs a standard 120V outlet and adequate ventilation for the compressor. Read our comprehensive Indoor Cold Plunge Installation Guide for step-by-step instructions.

Are Dynamic cold plunges HSA/FSA eligible?

Cold plunges may qualify for HSA/FSA reimbursement through our TrueMed partnership. The process takes about 3 minutes at checkout — answer a few health questions, and if approved, you can pay with pre-tax HSA/FSA dollars for 30–40% savings. Read our full guide on cold plunge HSA/FSA eligibility for details.

What electrical requirements does the chiller need?

The Dynamic chiller system plugs into a standard 120V household outlet — no electrician or dedicated circuit required. For a complete breakdown of cold plunge electrical requirements, see our Electrical Requirements for Cold Plunge Tubs guide.
