How It Works:

1. Fill your cart

Add your item(s) to your cart and proceed to checkout.

2. Fill in your shipping and contact information

3. Choose "Truemed - Pay with HSA/FSA" under "Payment method"

Then Click "Continue"

4. Health assessment

You'll complete a quick survey to determine your eligibility to use HSA/FSA funds for your purchase.

5. Enter payment info

You can choose to pay directly from your HSA/FSA card, or use a regular credit card. If you use a credit card, you'll receive instructions on submitting your purchase for reimbursement through your HSA/FSA administrator after checkout.

6. Medical review & Letter of Medical Necessity

One of TrueMed's licensed medical provider partners will review your intake form. If approved, they will issue a Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN) to you. If you paid directly with your HSA/FSA card, keep the letter for your tax records per your plan's requirements. If you paid with a regular credit card, submit your LMN and receipt to your HSA/FSA administrator to request reimbursement. Reimbursement is subject to your plan's approval.

7. Order confirmation

Once your order is confirmed, you can pay with pre-tax dollars and potentially save up to 30–40% depending on your tax bracket.

Shopify Store FAQ

FAQ

Which Haven Of Heat products are HSA/FSA eligible?

Only certain products qualify for HSA/FSA spending. Generally, items must be intended to help diagnose, treat, mitigate, or prevent a specific medical condition. At Haven Of Heat, the following categories are typically eligible when accompanied by a Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN) from a licensed healthcare provider:

  • Saunas (traditional, infrared, and hybrid models)
  • Cold plunge tubs and chillers
  • Red light therapy panels and saunas with integrated red light therapy

Products such as accessories (buckets, ladles, thermometers, etc.), building materials, or decorative features are not eligible, as they are not considered to provide direct medical benefits.

Eligibility ultimately depends on your HSA/FSA plan administrator's requirements. We recommend confirming with them before purchase if you are unsure.

Can I pay for part of my purchase with my HSA/FSA account?

Yes. You can submit for partial reimbursement. For example: if you purchase an eligible item for $100 but only have $60 in your account, you may be able to reimburse $60 of your purchase with your tax-free funds (with the remaining $40 paid as normal), subject to your plan administrator's approval.

If Your HSA/FSA Debit Card Does Not Have Sufficient Funds:

  • Click on the "Get pre-qualified" link on the product page.
  • Complete the health assessment. If approved, you'll receive your LMN.
  • Use a personal credit or debit card to complete your purchase.
  • Submit your LMN and receipts to your HSA/FSA administrator for reimbursement.
What is an HSA, FSA?

Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) are tax-free accounts that can be used to pay for qualified health expenses. These accounts are usually set up and managed by an HSA or FSA administrator, and you should have access to said HSA/FSA administrator through your employer (ask your HR department!).

HSAs are typically associated with a high-deductible health plan, and funds do not expire. FSAs are independent of your health plan, and fund elections occur in October-November each year for the following calendar year. FSA funds expire every calendar year.

Do I need a Letter of Medical Necessity for all purchases?

No. Some HSA/FSA purchases are automatically approved (like prescription medications or doctor visits). However, most wellness products such as saunas, cold plunges, and red light therapy devices require a Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN) from a licensed healthcare provider stating the product is needed to treat, prevent, or manage a specific medical condition.

Can I use HSA/FSA funds if I'm buying for someone else in my family?

Yes. You can use your HSA or FSA funds to pay for eligible medical expenses for your spouse or dependents, as defined by the IRS, as long as the purchase meets the plan's eligibility requirements and you have a Letter of Medical Necessity if required.

How does Truemed work?

IRS Publication 502 describes the expenses that may be paid for with pre-tax HSA/FSA accounts, including "payments for the diagnosis, cure, mitigation, treatment, or prevention of disease, and for treatments affecting any part or function of the body." Some purchases like prescriptions and physician visits are automatically qualified, while others require a Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN) issued by a licensed healthcare provider.

Truemed makes it easy to find out if you qualify for HSA/FSA spending during checkout. After taking a short health survey, your answers are reviewed by third-party licensed medical providers who will issue a Letter of Medical Necessity if the products may help mitigate, treat, or prevent relevant medical conditions. You can check out immediately using your HSA/FSA funds and will receive your LMN within 1–2 business days.

If you do not have your HSA/FSA payment method available, Truemed can also process your payment via credit or debit card and provide instructions on how to submit for reimbursement from your HSA/FSA administrator later.

What is a Letter of Medical Necessity?

In order to determine whether certain products or services are legitimate expenses for treating, mitigating, or preventing a diagnosed medical condition, HSA/FSA plan administrators often require a letter from a licensed practitioner. This letter is called a "Letter of Medical Necessity."

How long does it take for me to receive my Letter of Medical Necessity?

Generally, it takes 24–48 hours. If you aren't seeing your letter in your inbox, check your spam folder, then contact TrueMed directly at support@truemed.com for assistance.

What if my HSA/FSA payment is rejected by my administrator?

Even if your HSA/FSA card is accepted at checkout and you submit a Letter of Medical Necessity, your plan administrator has the final authority to approve or deny reimbursement. Administrators may review claims weeks after purchase and sometimes deny expenses even when a payment initially goes through.

If your plan administrator denies your claim, contact TrueMed directly at support@truemed.com. In some cases, they can help resubmit the claim with updated documentation. If your administrator maintains their denial, Truemed offers a warranty program that may reimburse a portion of your purchase price to help offset expected tax savings. Contact TrueMed for full program terms and conditions.

What if I haven't contributed to my HSA/FSA. Will I still be able to maximize my savings?

For most Americans, open enrollment is in the last four months of the year. Simply elect to increase contributions to your HSA or FSA during this time and you can begin shopping with Truemed merchant partners. Starting on January 1st, qualified individuals will be able to spend their entire HSA or FSA amount on products that a licensed practitioner recommends to treat, mitigate, or prevent a specific, diagnosed medical condition. These funds will be pulled from your paycheck, prior to tax withholding, by your HSA/FSA administrator in equal installments through the year.
