Heating elements are the core components inside your electric sauna heater that convert electricity into heat. Over time — typically after 3–5 years of regular use — elements can weaken or burn out, resulting in longer heat-up times, uneven temperatures, or a heater that won't reach full temperature. Replacing a worn element restores your heater to original performance without replacing the entire unit. We carry genuine OEM replacement elements from Harvia (which also fits Finlandia FIN heaters, since they're manufactured by Harvia), plus replacement thermostats and timers for heaters with built-in controls. Harvia heaters use stainless steel tubular heating elements. Each heater contains multiple individual elements (typically three), and each element is replaced individually. Match the element to your heater's kW rating and voltage — a 6kW heater at 240V uses a different element than a 6kW heater at 208V.
For 6kW Heaters (240V/1PH) — ZSL-313, 2000W per element. Fits Harvia KIP-60, Spirit SP60E, The Wall, TopClass, and Finlandia FIN-60. Three elements per heater.
For 6kW Heaters (208V/3PH) — ZSK-742, 2000W per element. Fits the 208V/3-phase versions of the same heater models for commercial installations.
For 8kW Heaters (240V/1PH) — ZSL-316I, 2670W per element. Fits Harvia KIP-80, Spirit SP80E, The Wall, TopClass, and Finlandia FIN-80. Three elements per heater.
For 8kW Heaters (208V/3PH) — ZSK-745, 2670W per element. Fits the 208V/3-phase versions for commercial installations.
Each element is a direct OEM replacement — same part Harvia uses in the factory. Installation requires disconnecting power, removing sauna stones, pulling the old element, and inserting the new one. Most sauna owners can do this themselves, though we recommend having a licensed electrician handle the electrical connections if you're not comfortable working with high-voltage wiring.
These parts are for Harvia heaters with built-in knob controls only (KIP-B1, Cilindro built-in, KV, Vega). They do not apply to heaters using external Xenio digital controllers.
Thermostat (ZSK-762) — The temperature-sensing component that regulates heater output. If your heater runs too hot, not hot enough, or cycles erratically, the thermostat may need replacement. Compatible with Harvia KIP, KV, Cilindro, and Vega with built-in controls.
Timer (ZSK-766) — The mechanical timer knob that sets session duration. If your heater shuts off too soon, won't shut off, or the timer dial doesn't engage properly, this is the part to replace. Compatible with the same built-in control heaters as the thermostat. Harvia recommends keeping a spare timer on hand since it's a wear item.
Common signs include: your sauna takes significantly longer to heat up than it used to, it doesn't reach your set temperature, the heat feels uneven (one side of the heater is noticeably cooler), or the heater trips the circuit breaker. If one of the three elements has burned out, the heater will still produce some heat but at reduced output — it won't fail completely unless all elements are gone. A licensed electrician can test individual elements with a multimeter to confirm which one has failed.
You need two pieces of information: your heater's kW rating (found on the heater's data plate or in the original documentation) and your voltage (240V for most residential installations in the U.S., 208V for commercial/three-phase). Match those to the element part numbers listed above. Yes. Finlandia FIN-series heaters are manufactured by Harvia in Finland. The heating elements are identical — a Harvia ZSL-313 element for a 6kW/240V heater fits both the Harvia KIP-60 and the Finlandia FIN-60. Match by kW and voltage, not by brand name.
Most residential sauna heaters go 3–5 years before elements need replacement, depending on usage frequency. Commercial saunas running daily may need replacement sooner. Mineral buildup from water (especially hard water) poured over stones can accelerate element wear. Some heaters like the Harvia Spirit have built-in element separators that protect elements from direct stone contact and extend element life. Regular stone inspection and replacement also helps — crumbling stones can fall between elements and cause hot spots.
The physical replacement is straightforward — remove stones, pull the old element out, slide the new one in. However, because sauna heaters operate on 240V circuits, we recommend having a licensed electrician handle the electrical disconnection and reconnection for safety. At minimum, always disconnect the heater's circuit breaker before working on any heater component. Never work on a heater that is energized.
