Every traditional sauna has the same fundamental problem: hot air rises and stays at the ceiling while the floor stays cool. In a typical sauna, the temperature difference between your head and your feet can be 80°F (45°C) or more — your head is baking while your feet are cold. Saunum is an Estonian company that solved this with patented Climate Equalizer technology. Their systems trap hot air and steam from the ceiling, mix it with cooler, oxygen-rich air from the floor, and redistribute a smooth air-steam mixture throughout the room. The result: the temperature difference between head and feet drops to roughly 26°C (about 47°F), breathing is easier because the air stays oxygen-rich, and steam feels softer rather than scorching. The AirSolo is a standalone climate device that pairs with any sauna heater — Harvia, HUUM, Finlandia, wood-burning, or any other brand. If you already have a heater you're happy with but want the benefits of Saunum's air circulation technology, the AirSolo is the way to add it without replacing your heater.
The AirSolo works by drawing hot air and steam from the ceiling level, passing it through the device (and over Himalayan salt spheres that release beneficial negative ions), then releasing a blended, even-temperature air-steam mixture back into the room. No electricity required from the device itself — it uses the natural convection currents of hot air rising to drive airflow through the unit.
AirSolo Wall — An in-wall mounted version with adjustable height. Installs between wall studs for a flush, built-in appearance. Ideal for new sauna builds or renovations where you can access the wall cavity. Adjustable to match your sauna's ceiling height.
AirSolo 70 — A floor-standing unit at 75" height (approximately 6'3"). Freestanding installation — no wall modification needed. Good for retrofitting into existing saunas without construction work.
AirSolo 80 — A floor-standing unit at 85" height (approximately 7'1"). Designed for taller saunas with higher ceilings. Same air-blending technology as the AirSolo 70 in a taller form factor.
If you're buying a new heater (or replacing an existing one), the Saunum Air series combines the heater and Climate Equalizer into a single wall-mounted unit. These include a built-in Himalayan salt reservoir, optional aromatherapy, and the AirIQ WiFi controller for smartphone control. Yes. The AirSolo is heater-agnostic — it pairs with any electric or wood-burning sauna heater from any brand. It's a completely separate device that works alongside your existing heater using natural convection. No electrical connection between the AirSolo and your heater is needed.
The AirSolo is a standalone climate device that adds air circulation to any existing heater. The Saunum Air is a complete electric heater with Climate Equalizer technology built in. If you already have a heater, get an AirSolo. If you're buying new or replacing, the Air series gives you everything in one unit.
Traditional heaters from Harvia and HUUM heat the room from a single point and rely on natural convection — hot air rises, cool air stays low. Saunum's Climate Equalizer actively mixes the air layers, creating a more even temperature from floor to ceiling. The tradeoff: Saunum heaters cost more than comparable Harvia or HUUM heaters at the same kW rating, and the technology is newer with a smaller install base. Saunum Air series heaters install the same as any wall-mounted electric sauna heater — 240V dedicated circuit, wall mounting brackets, and standard clearance distances. The AirIQ controller mounts to the wall like any sauna controller. AirSolo devices are either wall-mounted (AirSolo Wall, requires wall cavity access) or freestanding (AirSolo 70/80, no special installation). No special plumbing or ventilation is required beyond standard sauna ventilation.
Both AirSolo devices and Air series heaters include a Himalayan salt reservoir. As air passes through the device, it flows over salt spheres that release negative ions. Proponents say negative ions from Himalayan salt may support respiratory health and skin condition, though scientific evidence on salt therapy benefits varies. At minimum, the salt adds a subtle mineral quality to the air that many sauna bathers find pleasant.
